BAKING DAY

The temperature here has dropped with the cold front bringing clouds, but it did end up reaching a high of 18C. Not a great day to do activities so we pretty much stayed indoors.

Cathy was in the baking mood so made some bread she bought frozen. She just had to put it in a pan, let it thaw and rise, then bake it. It was ready in time to have warm with dinner. She also made up a batch of chocolate chip cookies. I participated by doing the heavy stirring of the mix since we didn’t bring the Kitchen Aid.  This allowed me to see when the mix was ready for sampling.

Cathy had time to call Anne back home in Terra Cotta and see what was new. Her husband Ed just recently arrived in Mesa, Arizona and said they are going through an unusually cold winter and in fact they have a crop alert for the area. This information along with the monitoring of several other locations we have been doing has convinced us to extent our stay here for another week. I know yesterday I mentioned we only had 1 week to go before leaving Mercedes but we extended our stay another week hoping the weather will improve before heading to Arizona. Luckily, we are able to stay in the same site.
Although the weather has not been all that great here we are better off staying.

There was a Happy hour held at Dale and Linda’s so Cathy took her cookies over and they were a hit. We found out that Tom’s remote control car arrived yesterday so now there are 3 units in the neighbourhood.

Hoping for better weather ahead..........
