WHAT A VIEW!

With a high of 29C today we decided to head some where it would be cooler. So we headed for higher ground. In Palm Springs about 45 minutes to the west there is an Aerial Tramway that goes 8,516 feet up San Jacinto Mountain. It was 48 degrees F. or 8.9C. up there and it had a fantastic view. The tram car is the largest in the world, took 10 minutes to get to the 2.5 mile elevation and for a more interesting ride the floor rotates a full two rotations going up or down (creates a great different view all the time). The car has a diameter of 18 feet and a capacity of 35,600 Ibs. or up to 80 passengers.

Driving up to the parking lot.

Misty from water vapour, dust and pollution. Palm Springs in view.

View from top.

When we looked out of the station at the top we were both surprised to see a forest thriving at such a height. They have hiking trails you can take from the top as well. Cathy and I decided to just take in the scenery.
Had to touch this white stuff, I forget the name - also forgot to tuck in my shirt.

View of forest at the top.
Driving through Palms Springs we noticed several sprinkler systems running providing nice green grass and healthy plant material. It was a treat to see after all the desert we have seen lately.

All for now.....
