When we woke up it was a little drizzly and by the time we
left (10:45) it was raining. About a half an hour after leaving we were driving
through a heavy rain and we couldn’t see much of the mountains in the distance (storm
1). Driving from Needles with an elevation of 720 feet we drove further and the
rain started getting thicker with some snow content and as we continued increasing
our elevation and reached 3,570 feet the wipers were now clearing snow from the
windshield. The transport we were following pulled over along with some other
RV’s and trucks onto the shoulder. I decided to continue as the road was only
wet and not freezing and it was a good decision as we started to drop in elevation
a short distance down the road (storm 2). Driving into Nevada the rain had stopped
and looking ahead we saw clouds of sand blowing across the highway with some
strong winds (storm 3). When we did arrive at the campground at Circus Circus
in Las Vegas we could see the snow on the mountains in the distance. And
there you have it, a nice relaxing ride into Nevada from California. Glad we
made it.
After settling in, Cathy and I went for a short walk up the
strip even though it was spitting rain on and off. It was busy with people also
checking out the stores and casinos.
All for now...
